The beautiful and splendid Africa which is famously known as “The Rainbow Nation” is said to be the second largest continent in the world and is also known to be the 2nd most populated. Africa consists of 47 countries excluding the islands (Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, etc.) on the coast. If they were to be included too, Africa would have had a total of 53 countries. This continent has magnificent countries and numerable eye boggling holiday destinations that must be visited. Apart from its splendid tourist attractions, few countries of Africa are also vastly famous for their platinum, gold, chrome, vanadium and manganese.
On a visit to the majestic continent of Africa, the following tourist attractions in the different countries of this continent are highly recommended:
1. Maasai Mara Reserve, Kenya:
This game reserve should be number one in your tour list. This reserve was established in the year 1961 for the African wildlife preserve. This reserve entices millions of tourists every year. Animals such as lions, rhinos, elephants, leopards, zebras, hippos, giraffe, gazelles, and antelopes (almost every character from the movie Madagascar) are placed in this reserve. The best way to tour this reserve is by a hot air balloon safari.
2. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe:
The world’s largest waterfall is the Victoria Falls located in Southern Africa on the famous river Zambezi. Its original name was “Mosi-oa-Tunya” which actually means ‘The Smoke That Thunders’. The best time of the year to visit this magnificent beauty of nature is in between the months of March and May. The famous yet death defying activities found there are bungee jumping and white water rafting.
3. Central Cape Town in South Africa:
Located at the southern tip of the African continent, Cape Town is a place that is worth travelling. Tourists can visit Robben Island, the island that had the prison where Nelson Mandela was kept for 27 years. A must visit place in this location is the Cape of Good Hope Natural reserve which have amazing hiking trajectories, sea panoramas and up-front wildlife happenstances.
4. Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania:
The beautiful snow-cap mountain of Kilimanjaro is the prettiest and most majestic mountain situated in the northern part of Tanzania. It is estimated to be about 5994 meters in height located near the border of Kenya. It is labelled as the world’s tallest “walkable mountain” which would take an estimated 5-day walk to reach the top. It comprises of three peaks namely Mawenzi, Kibo and Shira. This beauty is a must-visit mountain when in Tanzania. Its beauty baffled millions across the world so much so that is it called to be one of the ‘new 7 wonders of nature’.
5. The Giza Pyramids, Egypt:
The beautiful pyramids found in Egypt are one of the world’s most visited destinations in the whole world. Among which are the majestic pyramids of Giza. These are situated near the south-western side of Cairo. The inordinate pyramid of Khufu is the largest and most dazzling pyramid in all of Egypt being 456 feet high. It must be visited when in Egypt.
