Innovation is beautiful; it is the ability to create something amazing from seemingly ordinary things. To give wings to one’s thoughts and ideas and watch them fly high above the skies, dropping a bit of miracle wherever it traverses and living a scent of hope upon every life that comes in contact.
Ayokunle Adeniran has translated his thoughts and ideas into an amazing product and created a solution to an age long challenge in his country. He invented the “Nepaless Iron” which he named the “iron Rhino.”
The Iron Rhino is a butane gas powered pressing iron, which does not require electricity to function, yet works effectively like existing electric irons and is quite user friendly as the design was built around user ergonomics . The butane comes in canisters that retail for about N120 and can last for 1 week usage at 20 minutes daily ironing. The canisters presently are being manufactured by a Chinese company, but plans are ongoing to have them produced locally by a Nigerian company.
It is very true what they say, that invention is born out of necessity.
Ayokunle’s inspiration was born out of a disappointment he experienced on one of the occasions he had to meet up with his dad at the airport; the clothing he had planned to wear was rumpled, and so he was unable to wear it. His disappointment brought about the spark of creativity which spurred him to come up with an idea of creating an alternative source of powering clothes iron.
The young inventor is one amazing Nigerian who believes in the beauty of his dreams and the greatness of his fatherland. He is not one very comfortable with fitting into the space especially where he considers it inadequate.
Ayokunle who is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Covenant University, currently works as a mechanical design engineer with a Queens, New York based firm.
Interestingly, the innovator is not all work and no play, his favorite games are Fifa, Call of duty and ping pong on Nintendo. He also loves social networking, and spends most of his time on instagram liking posts and drawing positive inspirations where possible.
We all have all it takes to succeed in our different endeavours. We just need to try.
