Away From Vanity

“Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me”. (Matthew 4 vs 8,9). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.

STREAMS OF JOY(_) Pastor Jerry Eze Away From VanityWhen the devil failed in his attempt to deceive Jesus with bread and jumping down from the pinnacle of the temple, he tried his hands on a new strategy. The devil showed jesus all the Kingdoms of the world and their glory. He showed Jesus different nations of the world, and everything that was attractive in them. The devil used the nations of the world as a bait for Jesus.

Remember, Jesus came to save people in the nations of the world, but he didn’t come for the glory in the nations. He came for the people, not for the splendour that their various nations could offer. The devil was obviously tempting Jesus in the area of needless vanities that eyes could see.

Friend, one of the strategies of the devil in these end times is to deceive God’s people with vanities. The devil thrives in making us obsessed with riches and fame to the detriment of our souls. We buy the things we don’t need in order to please people we don’t like. There is a subtle competition going on around us;everyone wants to out-do the other with the acquisition of material things.

Today, Glean a lesson from Jesus: Focus on your mandate not on its glory. Don’t immerse yourself in worldly acquisitions and lose sight of God. Focus on the things that matter to God and think less of things that matter to the world.

Stay on track. Let Purpose drive you!

Pray with me, “Lord, help me not to lose Focus on account of Worldly Possessions in Jesus name”.

Have a Splendid Wednesday!
